Quando, aos 36 anos, escreveu o Diário Secreto de Adrian Mole, jamais imaginou o sucesso que toda a série viria a alcançar, não só em Inglaterra, como em quase todos os países da Europa e até no Japão.
Para além dos 6 volumes da série Adrian Mole, publicou A Rainha e Eu e Número Dez. Morreu a 10 de abril de 2014.
