Professora Associada com Agregação da Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Foi coordenadora do Doutoramento em Saúde Internacional do Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, UNL. É docente em diversas universidades e orientadora de alunos de doutoramento e mestrado. Tem desenvolvido investigação em inúmeros projetos no âmbito da saúde de populações vulneráveis, promoção da saúde e avaliação de intervenções comunitárias, com recurso a abordagens quantitativas, qualitativas, mistas e de investigação participativa.
