Simone Duarte é jornalista, nasceu no Brasil, vive em Portugal e foi a voz dos atentados do 11 de setembro de 2001 para milhões de brasileiros que assistiam à TV Globo em direto de Nova Iorque, onde era chefe da delegação da emissora. Simone trabalhou na TV Gobo durante 15 anos. Em 2004, realizou o documentário A Caminho de Bagdade (RTP; PBS, France5) sobre Sérgio Vieira de Mello, morto no atentado contra a sede da ONU, no Iraque, em 2003. Foi a primeira jornalista brasileira a entrar na Coreia do Norte. Antiga diretora adjunta do jornal Público, foi nomeada para um Emmy pela cobertura do 11 de setembro e recebeu por duas vezes o prémio da Associação de Correspondentes da ONU.
