Shi Heng Yi é o fundador e diretor do Templo Shaolin na Europa, uma comunidade budista sediada na Alemanha (em Ottenberg), onde é responsável pelo treino mental e físico dos visitantes, estudantes graduados e discípulos da Ordem de Shaolin. Os seus métodos de ensino e vídeos no YouTube granjearam-lhe milhares de seguidores online. Ao longo de uma carreira de 36 anos a praticar artes marciais chinesas, adquiriu um vasto leque de conhecimentos que aplica aos treinos de Kung Fu nas vertentes interna e externa. Apesar do enorme sucesso do livro Espírito Shaolin, e de se ter tornado uma figura de culto online, o mestre continua a viver no remoto vale onde se localiza o templo.
