Scott Mariani cresceu em St. Andrews, Escócia.
Estudou Línguas Modernas em Oxford e começou a trabalhar como tradutor, depois como músico profissional, instrutor de tiro de pistola e jornalista freelancer antes de se tornar escritor a tempo inteiro. Após ter passado vários anos em Itália e em França, Scott descobriu o seu porto de abrigo isolado para escrever nas zonas remotas de Gales ocidental, uma casa de campo de 1830 completa com bosques para passeios campestres e uma passagem secreta. Quando não está a escrever, Scott desfruta de jazz, filmes, motocicletas clássicas e astronomia.
