Ruy Castro (Minas Gerais, 1948) é jornalista, biógrafo e escritor. Começou como repórter em 1967 e passou por todos os grandes veículos da imprensa carioca e paulistana. A partir de 1990, dedicou-se em exclusivo aos livros. Mais conhecido pelas aclamadas biografias de Carmen Miranda, Garrincha (Estrela Solitária, 2018) e Nelson Rodrigues (O Anjo Pornográfico, 2017), publicou também, entre muitos outros livros, o clássico Chega de Saudade: A história e as histórias da Bossa Nova (2016), o relato sobre o Rio de Janeiro Carnaval no Fogo (2017) e romances como Bilac Vê Estrelas (2017). Em 2022, ganhou o Prémio Machado de Assis, da Academia Brasileira de Letras. É colunista do jornal Folha de S. Paulo.
