Licenciado e Mestre em Engenharia Eletrotécnica pelo Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Começou a utilizar o Linux em 1992. Foi investigador do INESC, no projeto CAD/CAM. Lecionou durante alguns anos cadeiras na área de Computação Gráfica do curso de Engenharia Informática do IST. Lecionou diversos cursos de formação sobre UNIX e Programação. Profissionalmente, desenvolve software para fins industriais, maioritariamente em Linux.
