Rui Câmara Pina nasceu em Lisboa em 1951.
Licenciou-se no ISCSP e tirou o Mestrado em Relações Internacionais na New York University (NYU), nos Estados Unidos.
Nos últimos anos tem exercido funções no Ministério da Defesa Nacional.
É autor do livro "África do Sul, a Difícil Transição", publicado em 2012.
Vive em Cascais com a sua mulher Maria João.
