Rúben Lotra nasceu em Torres Vedras, cidade onde cresceu e completou o ensino secundário. Desde tenra idade, revelou-se um grande adepto de História. Mais tarde, apaixonou-se pelo mundo da fantasia. Estes factores levaram-no a criar a sua própria narrativa e escrever a sua primeira trilogia, Guerra dos Tempos.
