Ronald Reng nasceu em Frankfurt em 1970. É um premiado jornalista alemão e autor de vários livros. Em 2004, publicou uma biografia do guarda-redes Lars Leese, a primeira obra em língua estrangeira a ganhar em Inglaterra o prémio Sports Book of The Year.
De 1996 a 2001, foi correspondente do jornal Süddeutsche Zeitung em Londres, e desde então vive em Barcelona.
Em 2010, começou a trabalhar com Teresa Enke (viúva de Robert Enke) na biografia do ex-guarda-redes do Benfica. Por sete vezes, entre 2001 e 2010, foi distinguido com o prémio Reportagem Desportiva do Ano. Em 2011, quando a biografia de Enke foi publicada em Inglaterra, tornou-se no primeiro autor estrangeiro a receber o mais importante prémio de literatura desportiva do mundo, o William Hill Sports Book of the Year.
