Roger Martin Du Gard

PRÉMIO NOBEL DA LITERATURA 1937

Escritor francês (1881-1958), é o autor de Jean Barois (1913), romance baseado no caso Dreyfus, e do fresco Les Thibault (1922-1940), que retrata a vida de uma família francesa nas duas primeiras décadas do século XX, demonstrando uma técnica romanesca extremamente eficaz. A sua obra final, Souvenirs du lieutenant-colonel de Maumort (1942-1958), testemunha uma obsessão com a morte. Em 1968 foi editada a correspondência que manteve com André Gide. Recebeu o Prémio Nobel da Literatura em 1937.
