Self-taught, he began his artistic career in an animation studio; he also worked in book layout and poster design for film and theater. He illustrated texts by Eta Hoffmann, Charles Perrault, Oscar Wilde, and Christophe Gallaz. His works are published worldwide. Among other distinctions, he received the Golden Apple at the Bratislava Biennial, the Silver Medal from the Society of Illustrators of New York, and the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2008.
