Rita Castanheira Alves é psicóloga clínica, desde 2007, e desenvolve a sua atividade com crianças e adolescentes e com os seus pais e educadores. Especialista na área clínica e da saúde e na área da intervenção precoce, tem uma abordagem terapêutica integrativa, adequando cada técnica, metodologia e terapia às necessidades das crianças, dos adolescentes ou da família.
Além de todo o trabalho desenvolvido em contexto clínico, é mentora do projeto Psicóloga dos Miúdos, cujo nome deu origem ao título de um livro.
É ainda autora do livro Adolescência, os Anos da Mudança (ed. Vogais, 2016), de três livros infantojuvenis — Filipe Feliz, Zé Zangado e Maria do Medo (ed. Booksmile, 2015) — e coautora do livro É Tão Bom Fazer Amigos (ed. Arte Plural, 2014).
