Richard Wagamese

Richard Wagamese (1955- 2017), jornalista e escritor premiado, foi uma das vozes cimeiras das Primeiras Nações do Canadá e membro da tribo Ojíbua. Cresceu em casas de acolhimento onde conheceu a violência e o estigma, temas frequentes na sua obra. Viveu nas ruas, e foi nas bibliotecas públicas, onde se abrigava do frio, que se tornou um ávido leitor. Repórter desde 1979, o seu trabalho literário e jornalístico valeu-lhe uma distinção do Canada Council for the Arts, entre muitos outros prémios. Legou-nos vários ensaios e romances, entre os quais se destacam Ragged Company (2008), Indian Horse (2012), cuja adaptação cinematográfica foi produzida por Clint Eastwood, e Starlight (2018).
