Richard C. Morais nasceu em Lisboa, em 1960. De nacionalidade americana e criado na Suíça, Morais viveu a maior parte da sua vida na Europa, regressando aos Estados Unidos em 2003. Editor sénior da Forbes, foi o correspondente estrangeiro que mais tempo trabalhou fora, pois esteve dezassete anos em Londres, onde foi chefe do departamento europeu da revista americana. Actualmente, vive na Filadélfia com a mulher e a filha. A Viagem dos Cem Passos é o seu primeiro romance e foi calorosamente recebido pela critica. O autor é luso descendente e foi director europeu da famosa revista Forbes.
