René Stauffer nasceu em 1959, na Suíça, e é jornalista desportivo desde 1981. Trabalhou para os jornais Blick e Sport, e é atualmente o correspondente de ténis do Tages-Anzeiger e do Sonntags-Zeitung. Começou a escrever sobre Roger Federer em 1996 e desde então acompanhou a estrela suíça pelo mundo inteiro, realizando a cobertura de mais de setenta Grand Slams. Vive com a esposa e a filha nos arredores de Zurique, perto do Lago de Constança.
