Escritor, poeta e filósofo francês nascido em Boulicout (Ardennes) no ano de 1908, virá a falecer precocemente aos 36 anos, de tuberculose.
Devido à sua poesia "avant-garde", protagonizou, juntamente com outros artistas e escritores, o Surrealismo e Dadaísmo, com uma atitude simultaneamente entusiasta e cética, ortodoxa e iconoclasta, mas sobretudo independente.
Fundou a revista literária "Le Grand Jeu" e celebrizou-se postumamente com "As Últimas Palavras do Poeta" (que conta dos manuais escolares franceses), "La Grande Beuverie", "Guerra Santa" e "Le Mont Analogue".
