Régis Loisel nasceu em França, 1951. Argumentista, desenhador e colorista assina os seus primeiros trabalhos em meados da década de 70 em diversas publicações (Mormol, Piloto, Tousse-Bourin), mas é a partir do início da década de 80 que a sua carreira descola com a série La Quête de l’oiseau du temps (Dargaud), com argumento de Serge Le Tendre.
É também autor de Peter Pan (Vents d’ Ouest) ou de Troubles fêtes (Les Humanoïdes Associés). Colaborou em diversas longas-metragens de animação e foi distinguido em 2003 pelo Grande Prémio da Cidade de Angoulême. Em 2006, lança Magasin Général (Casterman) com Jean-Louis Tripp. Vive em Montreal.
