Randall Munroe é o autor da popular webcomic XKCD e do blogue What if. Nasceu em Easton, Pensilvânia, e cresceu na Virgínia. Estudou Física na Universidade Christopher Newport, e trabalhou na NASA como engenheiro e construtor de robots.
Em 2006, abandonou o emprego para se dedicar à BD na web a tempo inteiro. É autor dos livros E Se...?: Respostas Científicas para Perguntas Absurdas (ed. Saída de Emergência, 2015) e Thing Explainer (2015).
