Ramón Villares
Ramón Villares (born 1951) is a full professor of Contemporary History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he served as rector (1990-1994). He is a member of the Royal Galician Academy, president of the Galician Cultural Council (2006-2018), and holds honorary doctorates from the universities of Buenos Aires (1992), Minho (2015), and Rennes-2 (2017). He is the author of 25 books and numerous articles, notably... Land property in Galicia, 1500-1936 (1982), The contemporary world, from the 19th to the 21st century (2012) and History of Galicia (2016). He co-directed the 12 volumes of Josep Fontana. History of Spain (2007-2017).
