Ramon Llull nasceu em Palma de Maiorca, cerca de 1235. Filósofo, poeta e teólogo, ficou conhecido como "Doctor Illuminantissimus". Figura controversa, o seu pensamento, em que o proselitismo cristão se alicerça sobre a razão e a lógica e se cruza com a alquimia e os estudos cabalísticos, teve enorme influência na Idade Média e no Renascimento. Morreu na Argélia em 1315.
