Ralph Hewins, escritor britânico, redigiu, com rigor e objectividade, aquela que é provavelmente a mais correcta e completa biografia do Senhor Cinco por Cento, «o último dos poderosos magnatas que emergiram dos dois lados do Atlântico por volta da década de 1880 para concretizar a Primeira Revolução Industrial».
Para além da biografia de Calouste Gulbenkian, Ralph Ewins (1909-1985), escreveu as vidas do conde sueco Folke Bernadotte (1950) e do multimilionário norte-americano J. Paul Getty.
