Ralf Rothmann nasceu em 1953, em Schleswig, na Alemanha, e vive atualmente em Berlim. É um dos mais prestigiados escritores alemães contemporâneos, com uma obra ficcional já vasta e premiada. Entre as suas obras mais conhecidas está o presente Morrer na Primavera, que obteve em 2017 o mais prestigiado galardão literário de língua alemã, o Prémio Kleist.
