Rafael Gallo nasceu em São Paulo, no Brasil, onde publicou o romance Rebentar (2015), vencedor do Prémio São Paulo de Literatura e já publicado pela Porto Editora, e Réveillon e outros dias (2012), livro de contos vencedor do Prémio Sesc de Literatura. Tem ainda diversos textos em antologias e coletâneas, incluindo publicações em países como França, EUA, Cuba, Equador e Moçambique. Com Dor fantasma, foi laureado vencedor do Prémio Literário José Saramago 2022. Atualmente reside em Portugal.
