Pierre-Jean Luizard

Pierre-Jean Luizard (n. 1954), historiador francês especializado no Médio Oriente, é autor de várias obras sobre o Iraque, entre as quais La Question irakienne (2002) e La Formation de l’Irak contemporain (2002). Investigador no CNRS, residiu na Síria, no Líbano e no Egipto. Estudou as manifestações do Islão nestes países e, em particular, a história do clero xiita e do reformismo muçulmano. Especialista nas sociedades e culturas árabes, colabora como comentador nos jornais Le Monde e Libération.
