Pier Vincenzo Piazza é um médico especializado em psiquiatria, diretor de investigação no INSERM (Instituto Nacional de Saúde e Pesquisa Médica francês) e antigo diretor do Neurocentre Magendie no INSERM (Bordéus). Foi laureado com o Grand Prix de l’INSERM e o Grand Prix de Neurologie (Academia Francesa das Ciências, 2015). O seu trabalho sobre as bases neurofisiológicas da toxicodependência e da psicopatologia é inovador e revolucionou estas áreas de estudo. É reconhecido pelo rigor experimental e como um visionário na área da ciência.
