Nascido em Faro em 1966, é antropólogo e investigador na área da Literatura da Tradição Oral. Tem-se dedicado particularmente aos contos e lendas. É coautor do "Catálogo dos Contos Tradicionais Portugueses" (2015). Tem feito conferências, escrito artigos e recensões críticas e editado livros sobre contos e lendas em Portugal e no estrangeiro. Tem feito trabalho continuado de classificação de contos e lendas, para arquivos, bases de dados online, coleções em livros e catálogos. Foi bolseiro de investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia e, neste momento, é coordenador do Centro de Estudos Ataíde Oliveira da Universidade do Algarve.
