Paula Rego
Paula Rego is one of the most prominent names in European art. Born in Portugal in 1935, she studied at Slade School of Fine Arts, in London, where he resided at the time of his death at age 87, on June 6, 2022.
She was the first Associate Artist of National Gallery and received the title of Doctor. honoris causa She graduated from the universities of St. Andrews, East Anglia, Rhode Island School of Design, The London Institute, Oxford, Roehampton, and Cambridge. She was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint James of the Sword by the President of the Republic in 2005 and appointed... Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen of the United Kingdom in 2010, shortly after the opening of the Paula Rego House of Stories in Cascais, a new museum designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura.
