Atualmente presidente da APHP, Licenciado em Economia pela Faculdade de Economia do Porto. Trabalhou na banca de investimentos e na banca comercial. Assessor e chefe de gabinete do Secretário de Estado do Orçamento (1999 e 2001). Membro do Cons. Fisc. IGFC da SS e Administrador da Metro-Mondego, SA. Colaborador da Iberdrola. Assessor Económico do Primeiro-Ministro de 2005 a 2009 e Secretário de Estado da Saúde de 2009 a 2011. Foi assessor económico do Secretário-Geral do PS e depois Diretor de External Affairs da MSD.
