Olga Maria Barreto Gomes exerceu as funções de notária em diversos cartórios notariais. Foi vogal do Conselho Técnico da Direção-Geral dos Registos e do Notariado - subseção do notariado. Desempenhou também a função de coordenadora do Núcleo do Notariado do mesmo Instituto e, nessa qualidade, participou ativamente em diversos processos de alteração legislativa realizados em áreas relevantes dos registos e do notariado.
