Nikolai Gumiliov

Nikolái Gumiliov nasceu em Kronstad, atual Rússia, a 15 de abril de 1886. Um dos mais destacados poetas da sua geração, foi um dos fundadores do grupo acmeísta, com Anna Akhmátova, sua mulher, e Óssip Mandelstam. Militar, crítico literário, viajou pelo mundo nesta dupla condição, dando-nos um dos mais fascinantes retratos de África feitos por um russo. Pela sua ruidosa intervenção política e assumida oposição ao regime soviético, foi fuzilado a 26 de agosto de 1921, por uma alegada conspiração e tentativa de golpe de Estado.
