A sua obra ficcional tem aparecido em publicações com The Atlantic, Oxford American, The Missouri Review,Iowa Review, The Best American Mystery Stories, entre outras. Foi finalista dos National Magazine Awards. Galveston foi finalista do Edgar Award para Melhor Romance de Estreia e do Barnes and Noble Discover Award. Recebeu o Spur Award para melhor primeiro romance e o Prix de Premier Roman L’Etranger atribuído pela Academia Francesa.
