Nelson Olim
Nelson Olim, of Madeiran descent, an aspiring painter and sailor without a boat, is the WHO Regional Trauma Advisor for the Eastern Mediterranean and a member of... External Humanitarian Strategic Advisory Group for the organization Save the Children. He was Head of Simulation Learning at the WHO Academy in Lyon (France), Deputy Head of Surgery at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva, Regional Advisor for the WHO Emergency Medical Teams Network in the Middle East, and WHO Trauma Coordinator for Gaza. His field experience includes conflict and disaster areas in South Sudan, Somalia, Gaza, the West Bank, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, East Timor, and Cambodia. A former student of the Military College, he graduated in Medicine in 1995 and completed his General Surgery Internship at the Santa Cruz Hospital and the Fellowship Trauma node Rambam Medical Center, in Haifa (Israel).
