Natália Nunes (1921-2018) fez a sua estreia literária em 1952 com Horas Vivas: Memórias da Minha Infância, a que se seguiu, em 1955, o romance Autobiografia de Uma Mulher Romântica. Publicaria mais três importantes romances, respetivamente: Regresso ao Caos (1960), Assembleia de Mulheres (1964) e A Vénus Turbulenta (1997). Notabilizou-se ainda como contista, tendo publicado vários volumes de contos, e como ensaísta — tendo escrito brilhantemente sobre as obras de Dostoiévski, Raul Brandão, Augusto Abelaira, José Cardoso Pires e Carlos de Oliveira.
