Nagabe nasceu em 1993, em Tóquio. Licenciado em Estudos Japoneses pela Faculdade de Arte e Design da Universidade de Artes de Musashino, estreou-se, ainda estudante, como mangaka com a série Buch o wa onee (Edições Akane Shinsha). Autor das ilustrações e do texto de A Menina Que Veio do Outro Lado (Edições MAG Garden), que se destaca pelo estilo original e evocativo, alcançou grande sucesso mundial com esta série, que já vendeu mais de um milhão de exemplares. O autor gosta tanto de coisas antigas e aconchegantes que acaba sempre por comprar mais e mais cadeiras. Em Portugal, a série A Menina Que Veio do Outro Lado é publicada pela Editorial Presença.
