Miguel Montenegro quis ser cartoonista e ilustrador desde os onze anos. Antes dos Psicopatos, trabalhou para algumas das maiores editoras de banda desenhada, como a Marvel Comics e a Image Comics, e fez mais de mil storyboards para as maiores empresas de publicidade e promoção de filmes.
À procura de estímulo para complementar os seus interesses artísticos , Miguel concluiu o Mestrado em Psicologia Clínica, tendo publicado artigos científicos em revistas internacionais ainda enquanto estudante. A sua paixão por cartoons e por psicologia levaram à criação dos Psicopatos.
