Miguel Metelo de Seixas é doutor em História e investigador integrado do Instituto de Estudos Medievais, na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Foi professor da Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, onde coordenou o Centro Lusíada de Estudos Genealógicos e Heráldicos e dirigiu a revista Tabardo, além de docente convidado em universidades brasileiras, francesas e italianas. Na área da heráldica e da história, tem mais de uma centena de publicações editadas em Portugal, Brasil, França, Espanha, Alemanha, Grã-Bretanha, China e Itália, com destaque para os mais recentes livros: Heraldry in Contact - Perspectives and Challenges of a Connective Image Form (2023), State-Rooms of Royal and Princely Palaces, 14th-16th centuries: Spaces, Images, Rituals (2022), Devises, lettres, chiffres et couleurs: un code emblématique, 1350-1550 (2022) e Quinas e castelos, sinais de Portugal (2019). Entre 2010 e 2021, foi presidente do Instituto Português de Heráldica e diretor da revista Armas e Troféus.
