Melanie Cantor fundou a sua própria empresa de relações públicas aos 26 anos, tendo sido já responsável pelas carreiras de apresentadores como Michael Parkinson, Angela Rippon e a estrela pop, Adam Ant; foi também editora em revistas como Tatler e OK! Em 1992, dedicou-se à área da gestão e contou com comes como Ulrika Jonsson, Melinda Messenger e Melanie Sykes entre seus clientes. Acabou por se dedicar em tempo integral à escrita em 2013, e integrou o curso de redação de romances da Faber Academy, liderado por Joanna Briscoe. A Morte e Outros Finais Felizes é o seu primeiro romance publicado.
