Maurice Nadeau

Maurice Nadeau was a French writer born on May 21, 1911. A militant member of the French Communist Party, later expelled from that same circle, and a frequent participant in the early years of the Surrealist movement, he was the author of... History of Surrealism (1945) – a work hated by André Breton, as one might expect, but a curious first attempt to understand this artistic movement, so important and so dear to this and future generations.
