Matteo Maria Zuppi

Matteo Zuppi (Roma, 1955) formou-se em Teologia, na Pontifícia Universidade Lateranense, e em Literatura e Filosofia, na Universidade Sapienza de Roma. Ordenado sacerdote, em 1981, foi pároco em Trastevere e em Torre Angela, nos subúrbios.
Na década de 1990, liderou as negociações de paz em Moçambique e noutros contextos internacionais. Entre 2000 e 2012, foi assistente eclesiástico da Comunidade de Sant’Egídio.
Foi nomeado bispo auxiliar de Roma, em 2012, por Bento XVI; arcebispo de Bolonha, em 2015, por Francisco; em 5 de outubro de 2019, criado cardeal; e, a partir de 24 de maio de 2022, eleito presidente da Conferência Episcopal Italiana.
