Matej Accetto fez a sua formação em Direito nas Universidades de Liubliana (Eslovénia) e Harvard (EUA) e tem como domínio de investigação e ensino o Direito Europeu, onde se tem destacado como um dos pensadores de referência.

Desde 2013, leciona também na Católica Global School of Law, da Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
É um grande amigo de Portugal e um apoiante crítico da integração europeia.
