Mary B. Hesse

Mary B. Hesse (Reigate, 15 de outubro 1914 – Cambridge, 2 de outubro 2016) formou-se academicamente no Imperial College of Science and Technology de Londres e sucessivamente trabalhou em universidades de Londres, Leeds e Cambridge. Mary Hesse foi uma das primeiras mulheres a destacar-se academicamente no âmbito da história e filosofia da ciência, publicando trabalhos icónicos e participando nas atividades de várias instituições e revistas dedicadas a essa disciplina. Hesse foi presidente da Philosophy of Science Association, vice-presidente da British Society for the Philosophy of Science e da British Society for the History of Science, editor do British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, e também membro do comitê de direção editorial da revista Studies in History and Philosophy of Science.
