Marta Lamalfa nasceu em Palmi, na Calábria, em 1990. É licenciada em Línguas e Culturas do Médio Oriente e do Norte de África e tem um mestrado em Edição e Escrita pela Universidade «La Sapienza» de Roma. Toca piano e fala quatro línguas além do italiano: inglês, francês, espanhol e alemão. Vive em Roma, onde trabalha no gabinete de imprensa de uma organização humanitária. O seu romance A Ilha as Mulheres Voam está entre os livros recomendados da 36.ª edição do Prémio Italo Calvino.
