Marina Pignatelli é doutorada em Ciências Sociais na especialidade de Antropologia e Mestre em Ciências Antropológicas pela Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, ISCSP, onde lecciona. Completou pós-graduações em Etnologia das Religiões (UNL-FCSH) e em Estudos Sefarditas (Cátedra Estudos Sefarditas), bem como cursos livres em Judaísmo (CNC), Simbolismo (Fundação Casa Alorna), Tanatologia, Parapsicologia e Religião (UCP – Fac. Filosofia de Braga), Religiosidades Contemporâneas (UCP – Fac. Teologia de Lisboa), Peacekeeping e Resolução de Conflitos (UNITAR), Gestão Civil de Crises (IDN) e Património Cultural Imaterial (DGPA.UAb).

Tem-se dedicado ao estudo da realidade judaica em Portugal desde 1991 e terminou um pós-doutoramento sobre os Judeus de Moçambique.

É investigadora integrada do CRIA – Centro em Rede de Investigação em Antropologia e vogal da direcção da Associação Portuguesa de Antropologia.
