Maria Toscano
Well-endowed with meat and tendons, Maria Toscano, from Campo Maior in the Alentejo region, appreciates sausages and, indeed, all good food - including the conversations and debates with friends after a good meal.
Inspired to writing for over twenty years by the raw essence of poetic expression, the author also delights in singing: Piaf, Mahler, Portuguese (fados and others), Brazilian, and Chavela Vargas are all part of her journey of entertaining in bars or engaging in cultural activities.
A social activist who is unfaithful but reliable; curious, distrustful but firmly rooted in her southern roots, the author chose Sociology professionally - teaching at the Miguel Torga Higher Institute in Coimbra (since 1990) and holding a PhD in Sociology from ISCTE in Lisbon (November 2010).
