Maria José Oliveira é jornalista freelancer e investigadora-colaboradora do Instituto de História Contemporânea/IN2PAST da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. É mestre e doutorada em História Contemporânea pela Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Trabalhou no Público de 1996 a 2012, colaborou com a Visão História e o Observador, fez pesquisa arquivística e bibliográfica para as duas temporadas da série documental da RTP História a História, da autoria de Fernando Rosas, e faz investigação histórica para cinema. Colabora regularmente com os jornais Expresso, Público e Mensagem de Lisboa. Publicou o seu primeiro livro em 2017: Prisioneiros Portugueses na I Guerra Mundial. Frente Europeia, 1917-1918 (Saída de Emergência).
