A autora escreveu o primeiro livro aos seus 16 anos de idade. Estudante aplicada e sobretudo uma adolescente, como todos, por vezes aflita. Viu na escrita um refúgio. Vinda da Vila de Basto, Maria tem bastantes sonhos devido às influências e apoio de todos que a rodeiam e que lhe são queridos. Tornou um dos seus sonhos realidade com a publicação da sua primeira obra "Blake".
