Maria João Carvalho graduated in Anthropology from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She was a primary school teacher for 5 years and, simultaneously, a production consultant at an event organization company. Later, she moved into the publishing field, where she remains, working as an editor of textbooks and other school materials, specializing in Early Childhood Education and Portuguese Language. In 2001, she began her career as a children's book writer. Her literary work encompasses more than a dozen stories, all full of imagination and immense sensitivity. Some of her books are included in the National Reading Plan.
