Maria do Carmo Marques Pinto, nascida em Lisboa (1960), é licenciada em Direito pela Universidade de Lisboa e pós-graduada em Estudos Europeus pelo Colégio da Europa de Bruges. Com uma carreira dedicada à diplomacia e às instituições europeias, trabalhou no Conselho da União Europeia, assessorou governos como o da Catalunha e da Bulgária, e lecionou Direito Comunitário em Barcelona. Oficial do Mérito Civil português, traz para este primeiro romance a precisão de quem conhece os bastidores do poder. Vive em Sintra.
