Maria de Fátima Marinho

Maria de Fátima Marinho was born in Porto in 1954.
She graduated in Romance Philology from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, where she has taught Contemporary Portuguese Literature since 1976. In 1987, she received her doctorate with a thesis on Surrealism in Portugal. She is currently a Full Professor and President of the Scientific Council. Her research work includes the following works: "Herberto Helder, the Work and the Man" (Arcádia, 1982); "Surrealism in Portugal" (Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, 1987); "Portuguese Poetry in the Mid-20th Century - Ruptures and Continuity" (Caminho, 1989); "The Historical Novel in Portugal" (Campo das Letras, 1999); "History of Portuguese Literature - Contemporary Currents" Vol. 7 (co-edited with Óscar Lopes; Alfa, 2002); "José Marmelo e Silva, I Did Not Accept Orthodoxy - Complete Works" (coordination and preface; Campo das Letras, 2002); "Literature and History - Proceedings of the International Colloquium" (organization, 2 Vols.; Faculty of Letters of Porto, Department of Portuguese and Romance Studies, 2004). He also has essays published in numerous newspapers and magazines.
